The second match in Ahmedabad will see the number two in the table Delhi Capitals facing number three Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both the teams are on 8 points with 4 wins from the five matches they have played. This is expected to be a cracking match between two teams full of explosive batters.
Avesh Khan played just 9 PIL matches before this season picking up only 5 wickets. His last IPL wicket came in 2018 as he played just one match in IPL 2019 and 2020. In this year’s IPL he got the chance in Capitals’ first match only due to the unavailability of their key fast bowling options like Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. Avesh took this opportunity by both hands as he got two huge scalps in Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni in his first match. He got both these players for ducks and never looked back. Now after five matches he has 11 wickets for DC including two three-wicket hauls. He picked three wickets in their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad and should enjoy the conditions in Ahmedabad to be a key player in this match.
Like Avesh, Harshal Patel is another fringe Indian player in the IPL. He is part of IPL since 2012 and except 2015 when he delivered 17 wickets for RCB, he was never a regular player for any of his franchise. Patel played only five matches in IPL 2020 for Delhi Capitals and picked up just 3 wickets. This year he was back to RCB and his luck finally changed. He started with a five-wicket haul in the opening match and can not stop himself from taking wickets. He has already played five matches this season and his wicket count is a whooping 15. Even in the last match he picked up three wickets and proved himself a wicket-taker during the death over. Despite the 37-run last over against CSK, Patel will be confident to deliver against his old franchise.
