According to IPL retention rules, teams need to pay a hefty price for each retained player. The first retained player costs Rs 18 crore, the second Rs 14 crore, and the third Rs 11 crore. Teams can retain up to six players from their current squad, the highest limit in IPL history. The auction purse has also increased to Rs 120 crore this year, providing more flexibility for franchises as they prepare for the mega auction later this month.
