The wait is finally over. After almost six months, the classic red ball thrills returned to Indian soil. After a long white ball season, Team India shifted their focus into the longest format. On September 19, Team India is all set to face Bangladesh in the first Test match of the two-match Test series. The playing xi is here. Let’s explore whether KL Rahul is playing or not.
KL Rahul is Back on Duty:
After facing England in a five-match Test series on home soil, Team India is all set to face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. Chennai is all set to host the high-voltage action between two neighbors. Before stepping into the first innings, a lot of buzz was going over KL Rahul’s place in the playing xi. But the ace Indian wicketkeeper-batter made his place into the playing xi.
In recent times, KL Rahul faced some hard times in his career. At the beginning of this year, Team India faced England in a five-match Test series. In the first Test match of the series, KL Rahul sustained an injury and didn’t participate in the remaining matches. Even after that, he faced several hardships in his career.
Before the Test series started, the wicketkeeper-batter participated in the ongoing Duleep Trophy. While playing for India A, Rahul was dismissed early in the first innings. In the second innings, he bounced back and played a responsible knock in the second innings. Now, in the first Test against Bangladesh, he secured his place in the playing xi and is set to contribute to the team.
What Happened in the Toss?
The Indian fans are all excited to experience five days of thrilling cricket action. In the first Test, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bowl first. After winning the toss, he said, “I’ll like to bowl first. There’s moisture on the wicket and we want to make use of it. Pitch looks hard and there’s moisture. The first session will be very good for the seamers. The way we played that series (against Pakistan), we are confident.”
Later he added, “This is a new series, we’ll have to follow our processes. It’s a good mixture of experience and youth. We go with three seamers and two spin allrounders.”
