Ishan Kishan said that the net session in Mumbai Indians helped him in his first T20 international. He opined that IPL gives you the opportunity to face good pace bowlers and that gives confidence.
How MI net helped Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan amazed one and all in his first T20I match against England. He debuted yesterday in the ongoing series and helped Indian win the match. Kishan’s 32-ball 56 helped India clinch a victory and level the series. The southpaw has been with the Mumbai Indians for quite some time. She hit the most sixes and hammered 516 runs in 14 matches at 57.33 alongside four half-centuries. Even in the debut match, he smashed five fours and four massive sixes. While speaking about the Indian Premier League, Ishan Kishan said, “It obviously helped (to face the likes of Mumbai Indians teammates Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah) in the nets. They are very pacy bowlers and to hit shots against them gives confidence. In IPL you get to face quality bowlers from across the world and you start getting used to these bowlers. And I think that really helped me.” Ishan Kishan also received motivating words from his Mumbai Indians to captain Rohit Sharma ahead of his debut.

Ishan Kishan on debut pressure
Ishan Kishan further claimed that the management told him not to take extra pressure and play freely. However, he was slightly nervous as it was his first-ever T20 international appearance. However, he believes when one wears the country’s jersey, one anyway gets motivated to give the best shot.
“Before the match, I was told to go and open the innings and play freely the way I play in IPL. I was told not to take extra pressure. But it being my first game I was a little nervous while going at the ground. But when you wear the jersey of your country that pressure simply goes away and you try to give your best.”
