The first match of the ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup witnessed a thrilling clash between Bangladesh Women and Scotland Women. Sharjah Cricket Stadium hosted the inaugural game of the tournament. While bowling in the first innings, Scotland Women played some intense games. Saskia Horley shined with 3 wickets. The other bowlers also showcased their abilities.
While chasing a total of 120 in the second innings, the batters struggled. Saskia Horley was dismissed scoring 8 runs. Captain Kathryn Bryce scored 11 runs and was dismissed by Marufa Akter. Alisa Lister was dismissed scoring 11 runs. After that, their batting lineup shattered. But among these disasters, wicketkeeper batter Sarah Bryce shined with an unbeaten innings of 49 runs. But those efforts were not enough. They faced a defeat of 16 runs.

This match was special for the Scotland Women as they played their first-ever match in the T20 World Cup. but it ended up in a disappointing way. After the heartbreaking defeat, Scotland Women’s captain Kathryn Bryce said, “It is always going to be tough.. playing our first game in the T20 World Cup. Hopefully, it gets better in the next couple of weeks. It was great to get out there and get some game time.”
While bowling in the first innings, Saskia Horley showcased some excellence. She conceded 13 runs in 2 overs and ended up securing 2 wickets. After the defeat, Bryce said, “We were sloppy in the field and in a tight game like this those are things that can cost you. Saskia was ready for that and was calm under pressure (bowling at the end).”
