The Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup is moving forward with all thrills and excitement. Eight teams are locking horns for one goal. The fourth match of the stage witnessed a thrilling match between Australia and Bangladesh. Even though the rain interrupted the game, Australia kept alive their winning streak with a 28-run victory over Bangladesh. After winning the game, Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh reflected on the game.
On the Dominating Win:
After conquering the group stage with their dominance, Australia stepped into the Super Eight stage. They kick off with an excellent victory over Bangladesh. Rain added excitement, repeatedly halting the game. Australia’s bowlers troubled Bangladesh early, with Cummins taking three wickets and Zampa two.
Stoinis, Maxwell, and Starc each claimed one. Bangladesh lost early wickets, managing 140 runs. In response, Australia started well, Head scoring 31 before rain intervened again in the 12th over. Warner’s unbeaten half-century led Australia to a 28-run victory after applying the DLS method.
While talking about this, Mitchell Marsh said, “It was an exciting bowling performance with everyone chipping in. This is a very good playing XI, we spoke before the start to have the team to take us deep into the tournament and have a team based on the conditions and it’s going well.”
Enjoying Captaincy and the Upcoming Goals:
Captaincy is always an honor, especially on the World Cup stage. In this edition of the T20 World Cup, Mitchell Marsh is leading Australia with his excellence. Under his captaincy, Australia performed exceptionally well. They are unbeaten till now and aiming for a good campaign.
While talking about this, Marsh said, “I’m loving it (on captaincy), great team to lead, great group filled with experience, the support staff have been excellent and the families are here as well.”
That victory over Bangladesh pushed Australia to the top of the table. Now, on June 23, they will face Afghanistan. This win gave a huge boost to their confidence. While reflecting on the next goal, Marsh said, “Have another game tomorrow and we’re looking forward to it.”
