“Itna hype ban gaya hai….” Mohammed Shami Raring to Return as India Eyes BGT Hat-Trick in Australia

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is eager to make his return to competitive cricket, expressing excitement about the upcoming tour of Australia. After being sidelined for nearly a year due to an ankle injury that required surgery, Shami is determined to regain full fitness and contribute to India’s success.

Mohammed Shami Injury Update

Shami last played for India in the ODI World Cup final on November 19, 2023. Since then, he has been recovering from an ankle injury that has kept him out of action. Recently, reports surfaced about a swollen knee, raising concerns about his availability for the ongoing series against New Zealand and the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

In response to rumours regarding his fitness, Shami took to social media to clarify his status, stating, “Itna hype ban gaya hai, ab to mann kar raha hai khelne ka” (There has been so much hype that now I feel like playing).

Mohammed Shami: “I am 100% Prepared for Australia”

Shami was recently seen bowling at full intensity at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He expressed a desire to play a couple of domestic matches, ideally in the Ranji Trophy, before heading to Australia. “I’m 100% prepared for Australia. I’m trying my best to get into top shape. If I get fit and have a gap of eight to ten days, it’s better I play one or two domestic matches before going,” he explained.

The right-arm pacer understands that game time is crucial for regaining match fitness. With the series consisting of five Tests, including a day-night match, Shami is focused on preparing himself mentally and physically for the challenges ahead.

Shami’s Warning to Australia

The last time India faced Australia in a Pink-ball Test was a painful memory for fans, as they were bowled out for just 36 runs in Adelaide. However, that setback led to an inspiring comeback, with India winning the series 2-1. Shami believes that past experiences will help guide the team this time around.

“The colour of the ball doesn’t matter,” he remarked confidently. “Whatever the colour of the ball, your approach should be the same.” His focus on skill over conditions showcases his seasoned perspective as an international cricketer.

He stressed that patience is vital during recovery: “If you can control it, positive results will follow.”

As India gears up for a challenging tour of Australia, Shami’s return could be pivotal for the team’s chances in the BGT. His confidence and readiness are promising signs for fans eager to see him back in action. “The only thing on my mind is to ensure that I am fit and how strong I can be for the Australia series,” he concluded.

With Shami’s determination and experience, Indian cricket fans have much to look forward to as they anticipate what could be another thrilling chapter in their team’s history against Australia.
