Iyer to Miss IPL 2021
Shreyas Iyer suffered from a shoulder injury when he tried to stop the ball and dived on his left. He partially dislocated his shoulder and had to leave the ground immediately. Shibman Gill replaced him. Jindal who is a co-owner of Delhi Capitals informed via Twitter that Iyer will be missing the entire IPL. Iyer lead the franchise and took them to the final last year. “Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper @ShreyasIyer15 – stay strong captain – hope for a very quick recovery. Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup ” Jindal tweeted.
DC To Miss Iyer
Although the BCCI is yet to give an official statement, reportedly Iyer’s scan reports suggest that he might have to go for a surgery. While this means probable chance of Suryakumar Yadav’s ODI in the next match against England, for the Capitals this is not a great news. In Iyer’s absence, Rishab Pant who was the deputy of Iyer last year might take the charge of the team this year as captain. There is another option available in Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Steve Smith who might get the responsibility.
