James Anderson To Be Team England’s Bowling Coach In West Indies Test Matches

After retiring from international cricket following the first Test at Lord’s against the West Indies, former right-arm seamer James Anderson has joined the England team as the bowling mentor for the rest of the Test series.

The second Test between England and the West Indies will commence on Thursday at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. On 12 July, the first test match came to an end with England coming out victorious. While West Indies scored 121 and 136 in their innings, England scored 381, winning the match by an innings and 114 runs.

The West Indies men’s cricket team is on a tour to England for a series of 3 test matches. The three red ball matches on 10, 18 and 26 of July.

Jammiy Anderson played his last test match for England against the West Indies at the iconic Lord’s Ground. From the second match of the series, Anderson will step into a new role. He will be mentoring the English bowling line-up for the remaining two matches.

The fast bowler retired from Test cricket on Friday, ending his career as the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of the game. The 41-year-old took four wickets in his final match, finishing with a total of 704 career scalps, behind only Muttiah Muralitharan and the late Shane Warne.

Mark Wood replaces Jimmy Anderson

Mark Wood has joined England’s Test squad for the second Test against the West Indies. His stint with the team starts July 18 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The ECB announced Wood’s inclusion in the team, replacing James Anderson. Jimmy Anderson retired from international cricket after England’s win over the West Indies in the first Test at Lord’s.

“Durham fast bowler Mark Wood has been added to the England Men’s Test squad for the Rothesay second Test against the West Indies starting next Thursday at Trent Bridge, Nottingham,” said ECB in their statement.James Anderson, England’s leading wicket-taker, bid an emotional farewell in his final match at Lord’s against West Indies.
