Indian fast-bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for November 2024. Known for his pinpoint accuracy and lethal pace, Bumrah’s performances during India’s opening Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy reaffirmed his standing as one of cricket’s modern greats.
Jasprit Bumrah Nominated for ICC Player of the Month: November
Bumrah captained the Indian side in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma. He led India’s 295-run victory in the Perth Test. His match-winning eight-wicket haul (5/30 in the first innings and 3/42 in the second) left the Australian batting lineup in tatters.
India’s first innings in Perth didn’t go as planned. The Indian team was bowled out for just 150 runs. Defending a low total, Bumrah stepped up in remarkable fashion. In his opening spell, he struck thrice within seven overs, dismantling Australia’s top order and finishing with breathtaking figures of 5/30. Australia could only score 104 in response to that low total.
Bumrah’s brilliance continued in the second innings. Defending a huge 534-run target, he struck early again. His three wickets sealed the game for India and also earned him the Player of the Match award. Owing to this performance, Bumrah has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month Award for November.
Haris Rauf and Marco Jansen Nominated as Well
Along with Jasprit Bumrah, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and South Africa’s Marco Jansen were also nominated for the ICC Player of the Month: November.
Haris Rauf played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s historic ODI series win in Australia. It was their first in 22 years. The right-arm pacer claimed 10 wickets in the three-match series at an economy of just five, topping the wicket charts. His standout moment came in the second ODI, where he grabbed a five-wicket haul, helping Pakistan level the series.
Rauf didn’t stop there. In the T20I series that followed, he delivered a stunning four-wicket spell in the second game, finishing the series with five wickets. Rauf rounded off the month with three more wickets in an ODI series against Zimbabwe, taking his November tally to an impressive 18 dismissals across formats.
Marco Jansen showcased his exceptional all-round skills in November. He excelled in both white-ball and red-ball cricket. He played a role with bat and ball in the T20I series against India. He put on an explosive 17-ball 54 in the third T20I and then went on to smash an unbeaten 29 in the fourth match.
Jansen’s peak performance was against Sri Lanka in the first Test at Durban with match figures of 11/86. His devastating seven-wicket haul in the first innings bowled out Sri Lanka for just 42, the second-lowest Test total in the 21st century.
