Jemimah Rodrigues’ Father Refutes Claims of Misconduct at Khar Gymkhana Prayer Meetings

Ivan Rodrigues, father of Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, has reacted to the recent allegations made about the prayer meetings at Khar Gymkhana, explaining that such gatherings were done in full compliance of the regulations of the gymkhana and purely a bonding platform and no channel for conversion, as highlighted by some sections of media. This clarification follows upon Khar Gymkhana revoking membership of Jemimah Rodrigues due to complaints about her father’s misuse of membership privileges.

Clarification from Ivan Rodrigues

In response to recent media reports alleging inappropriate activities linked to prayer meetings at Khar Gymkhana, Ivan Rodrigues, father of Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, issued a statement clarifying the situation. He emphasized that these gatherings adhered strictly to the procedures of Khar Gymkhana and were in no way related to conversions, as certain reports suggested. “In light of the recent and erroneous reports doing the rounds in the media, we would like to put on record a few facts,” Rodrigues stated.

He further explained, “We had availed of the facilities at the Khar Gymkhana for the purpose of prayer meetings on multiple occasions. However, this was done in complete accordance with the procedures that Khar Gymkhana have in place, and in full knowledge of the office bearers.” Rodrigues asserted that the prayer meetings were open to all and were “in no way ‘conversion meetings’ as is wrongly labelled in articles in the media.”

Khar Gymkhana has decided to revoke the membership of Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, a decision made unanimously during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) following complaints from several members regarding the alleged misuse of membership privileges by her father, Ivan Rodrigues. The situation has drawn attention, leading to an escalation in public discourse surrounding the family’s activities.
