Jharkhand High Court has issued a notice to former Indian captain MS Dhoni in a case filed by his former business partners over cricket academies using his name.
Jharkhand High Court Issues Notice to MS Dhoni Over Cricket Academy Dispute
The Jharkhand High Court recently issued a notice to former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a legal matter involving his former business partners, Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das.
Dhoni has been asked to appear before the court to present his stance on a case that revolves around a prior business agreement related to the opening of cricket academies in his name.
In 2017, Dhoni entered into a partnership with Diwakar and Das, both directors of Aarka Sports and Management Ltd., aiming to establish cricket academies.
However, this collaboration turned contentious in 2021 when Dhoni alleged that they continued to operate under his name even after he terminated their rights to do so.
Dhoni filed a criminal complaint in January 2024, accusing his former partners of fraud and claiming a financial loss of INR 15 crore.
Allegations of Fraud
In his complaint, Dhoni asserted that Diwakar and Das continued to use his name and reputation to establish additional cricket academies without his consent, leading to a breach of trust.
Dhoni claims that the partners misled him about the extent of their operations, prompting him to seek legal intervention.
Diwakar and Das, on the other hand, challenged the allegations, bringing the matter to the high court.
They contested the lower court’s decision, asserting their stance on the legality of the agreement.

High Court’s Notice and Dhoni’s Next Steps
Following the filing, the Jharkhand High Court has ordered Dhoni to appear and clarify his position in the case.
This notice emphasises the seriousness of the allegations and calls upon Dhoni to provide further explanation to the court regarding his claims against Diwakar and Das.
The cricket legend’s legal team is expected to submit evidence supporting his allegations, while Diwakar and Das will continue to contest the charges in their defence.
The outcome of this case could significantly impact Dhoni’s business interests beyond the cricket field.
