Reportedly, Jos Buttler, the opening batter for Rajasthan Royals is set to miss their next match in the Indian Premier League. He will be missing the match against Delhi Capitals after picking up a finger injury against Punjab Kings.
In a match against Punjab Kings, Buttler tried to take a catch to dismiss Shahrukh Khan, the PBKS batter and injured his finger at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. This saw Ravi Ashwin opening the batting for Rajasthan Royals as they lost the match by just five runs. In the post-match conference later the Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson confirmed that Buttled had got stitches for the finger injury. “Jos was not fit. He was getting stitches for his finger after the catch,” said Samson. Buttler, however went on to receive the award for the best catch with a strapping on his little finger.
On the decision to send Ashwin, ahead of Devdutt Padikkal, the Rajasthan Royals captain said: “The thinking behind Devdutt Padikkal at No. 4 was we knew that they had a left-arm spinner (Harpreet Brar) and legspinner (Rahul Chahar) who would be bowling in the middle overs. So, it was important for us to have a left-hander.”
The finger might need some rest for next few days as it will be sore and tough for the fielding. Therefore, the Rajasthan Royals team management is likely to let Buttler take rest for next one or two games. With their next match in 72 hours, there is a possibility of Jos Buttler missing the match against Delhi Capitals.
Rajasthan Royals lost to Punjab Kings by five runs as Punjab set a massive target of 198 and Rajasthan failed to chase it down.
