Josh Inglis Takes Helm as Australia’s Captain

At 29 years old, Josh Inglis is a talented wicketkeeper-batter. He has played 26 T20 matches and scored 679 runs, including two centuries in the past year. His consistent performance has earned him respect within the Australian cricket community.

Inglis steps into the captaincy role as regular captain Pat Cummins prepares for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Additionally, Mitchell Marsh is on paternity leave. This leaves Inglis with the responsibility of leading the team during this important series. With this appointment, Inglis becomes Australia’s 14th T20I captain and the 30th to lead in ODIs.

Inglis Gets Support from Selectors and Teammates

George Bailey, chairman of the national selection panel, expressed confidence in Inglis’s abilities. “Josh is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field,” Bailey stated. He further noted that Inglis has previous leadership experience with Australia A and is expected to bring tactical acumen and a positive mindset to his new role.
