The Upcoming Kerala T20 Premier League:
Scheduled to commence on September 2nd at the Greenfield International Stadium, the tournament will feature six competing teams. It marks the beginning of an exciting cricketing spectacle set against the backdrop of Kerala’s premier cricket venue. With teams gearing up and preparations in full swing, anticipation runs high for a thrilling start to the tournament, promising fans and players alike an exhilarating display of cricketing prowess and competition.
Reputed entities showed interest in acquiring franchise rights via an advertisement posted on June 26, 2024. Initially set for July 15, 2024, the submission deadline for bids was extended to July 17 to accommodate potential bidders. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) facilitated the process by offering a FAQ section on their website and distributing it to bidders who had purchased the bidding documents, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the process.
KPMG conducted a thorough technical evaluation, assessing bidders based on specified eligibility criteria. Out of thirteen responses, the evaluation was finalized by noon today. The base price for bids was set at INR 1 crore plus GST, with a ceiling of INR 2.5 crore. This process was designed to attract dedicated team owners who have a passion for cricket, with an emphasis on sustainability and value creation. The goal was to ensure that committed individuals who value the sport’s growth and longevity would lead the new franchises, creating a solid foundation for the Kerala T20 Premier League.
