On May 8, 2024, after losing to the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 wickets, Sanjiv Goenka came onto the field and got into a violent argument with Rahul. The owner was seen scolding the captain and head coach Justin Langer during the altercation, which was caught on tape. Fans were incensed by this behavior and denounced Goenka’s treatment of the team leader.
