League of Legends World Championship 2025 to Be Held in China

Riot Games has officially announced that the League of Legends World Championship 2025 will be hosted in China. This exciting news was revealed during an event celebrating the extension of a partnership with smartphone manufacturer OPPO.

League of Legends World Championship Returns to China

This marks the third time China will host the League of Legends World Championship. The first was in 2017, which took place across four cities: Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing. The grand final was famously held at the iconic Bird’s Nest arena. In 2020, a more subdued championship was held in Shanghai amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement came during a launch event for OPPO’s Find X8 series in Chengdu. The extended partnership between OPPO and Riot Games will see OPPO continue as a global partner for League of Legends esports. This collaboration began in 2019 and has included significant sponsorships for both the World Championship and the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).

The MSI was recently held in Chengdu earlier this year, further solidifying China’s role as a key player in the global esports landscape. The exact host cities for Worlds 2025 are yet to be disclosed but are expected to be announced soon.

The semi-finals are set to occur in Paris, with the grand final scheduled for November 2 at London’s O2 Arena. This year’s official anthem, “Heavy is the Crown,” performed by American rock band Linkin Park, adds to the excitement surrounding this prestigious event.

With a robust gaming community and significant infrastructure, China continues to be an ideal location for major esports events. As fans eagerly await further details about Worlds 2025, this announcement highlights Riot Games’ commitment to expanding its global reach and enhancing partnerships with leading brands like OPPO.
