The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam will not participate in the upcoming two-match Test series against India due to a groin injury. The 23-year-old fast bowler is still recovering from the injury that forced him to miss the second Test against Pakistan, where Bangladesh achieved a historic 2-0 series victory.
Squad Adjustments Ahead of the Series
Shoriful’s absence marks the only change in the 16-member squad that recently toured Pakistan. Instead of opting for another fast bowler to fill the gap, the selectors have chosen to include wicket-keeper batter Jaker Ali, who is set to make his Test debut. Known primarily for his T20 hitting prowess, Ali had a successful outing with the Bangladesh A team during their recent tour of Pakistan, which likely influenced the selectors’ decision.
The inclusion of Jaker Ali not only adds depth to the batting lineup but also relieves established keepers like Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim from wicket-keeping duties, allowing them to focus solely on their batting. This strategic move aims to bolster the team’s performance as they face a formidable Indian side.
Bangladesh’s Recent Success
