Litton Das ‘Happy’ but Maintains Rawalpindi Century Not His Best Knock

Bangladesh’s Litton Das played a crucial innings in the ongoing second Test against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Facing a difficult situation with Bangladesh reeling at 26/6, Litton, along with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, formed a crucial partnership of 165 runs. This effort helped Bangladesh post a total of 262 runs in their first innings, with Litton contributing 138 runs and Miraz 78.

Despite the challenging circumstances and his impressive performance, Litton Das downplayed the idea that this was his best Test knock. He referred to his century against Sri Lanka in 2022 at Mirpur as a more special achievement. In that match, Bangladesh had been reduced to 25/5 before Litton and Mushfiqur Rahim (who scored 175) turned the game around with their centuries.

“Not really [my best knock]. I scored 141 vs Sri Lanka, it was the same situation. This is a good total. I am lucky to get the opportunity and I am happy,” Litton shared at a press conference after the third day’s play.

He also credited Mehidy Hasan Miraz for playing a crucial role in breaking Pakistan’s momentum, especially after Litton was injured during his innings.

“We did not plan for very long. When I started with Shakib, he got out early. When Miraz came in, the only thing that we discussed was how to break their momentum. Credit goes to Miraz. I was injured after I got hit by the ball. Miraz put Pakistan on the back foot with his shot-making,” he added.

Pakistan Struggles in the Second Innings

Pakistan, in their second innings, found themselves in a similar struggle, reduced to 81/6. Both Babar Azam and Shan Masood, who have faced criticism recently, failed to make significant contributions. The responsibility now falls on Mohammad Rizwan to help Pakistan put up a competitive target and avoid a series defeat.
