Delhi Bulls were inserted into bat and had a red-hot Tom Banton on their side as well. Banton began as he finished yesterday but fell soon after and this triggered a top-order collapse. The middle order tried to fight back but couldn't stay on for long and it was only Tim David who got into the 20s as the Bulls huffed and puffed to 89 runs. With the ball, they had a mountain to climb but time and again, they showed resilience. However, a few dropped catches coupled with the low score on board, it was all over for the Bulls quite quickly.
After opting to bowl first, Rohan Mustafa's troops set things up nicely with the ball and their spinners got rid of the Bulls' top order in a jiffy. Isuru Udana then played a pivotal role with those wickets in the Floating Powerplay and at the death as well. With the bat though, they weren't quite clinical as Faf du Plessis flopped and then Asalanka gave away a start but it was Andries Gous who took the reigns and found the fence with regularity that got them well ahead in the chase. Once he fell for 38 off 23 balls, they went into a slump but then came that cameo from Jack Taylor that sealed the win for the Samp Army.
Morrisville Samp Army have done, the team that remained unbeaten until really late in the group stage has managed to turn the misery of the loss of Qualifier 1 into the joy of winning Qualifier 2 and are heading into the Final. Spare a thought for Delhi Bulls though as they finished 5th in the group stage and had to pull off back-to-back wins yesterday to stay alive but they simply didn't have enough runs on the board today.
