Win Projections to be updated soon
Right then, that is it from this record-breaking game where Dhaka Capitals absolutely brushed aside Durbar Rajshahi. We have another double-header lined up in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024/25 on 13th January, Monday. First, it will be the Chittagong Kings taking on Sylhet Strikers at 7.30 am GMT, and then Rangpur Riders face Khulna Tigers at 12.30 pm GMT. But as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to both matches. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Thisara Perera, the victorious skipper of Dhaka Capitals says that they were searching for a win like this for the past two weeks and he told the boys to keep believing in themselves and they will eventually get through. Mentions that they had a nice chat before coming here. Adds that they were looking at all the positives from all the matches, and they knew the results would follow, he concluded.
Litton Das is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his scintillating knock of 125 off just 55 balls. He says that he is happy with his performance. Adds that in the previous game, he missed out on the hundred but today was his day. Mentions that it was not an easy wicket as there was not much dew and the ball was gripping on the surface. Says that it was great batting alongside Tanzid Hasan as they both took the pressure off each other and just kept going. Further adds that, he was not in a good mental state in the first few games, and credits his wife for keeping him motivated.
Anamul Haque, the captain of Durbar Rajshahi says that it was a difficult day for them. Adds they had opportunities but dropped crucial catches and then the batters capitalised later on. Mentions that they tried 7 to 8 bowlers throughout the innings but to no avail. Says that the scoreboard pressure definitely got on to them while batting, and it is difficult as a batter to plan for such a big total. Concludes by saying that it was definitely a bad day for them.
Presentation Time...
Dhaka Capitals, in contrast, will be delighted with their bowling performance. With a massive total to defend, their bowlers set the tone right from the first ball. Abu Jayed and Mukidul Islam delivered excellent opening spells, each picking up two wickets early on. Mosaddek Hossain chipped in with one in the middle overs, while Farmanullah Safi struck twice in consecutive deliveries to deepen the opposition's troubles. Mosaddek claimed another wicket later, Fizz brought them closer to victory, and a run-out ultimately sealed the deal for DC.
Earlier in the game, Dhaka Capitals set a record-breaking total, thanks to sensational performances from Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das. The opening duo put together a mammoth 241-run partnership for the first wicket, with both scoring brilliant centuries. Das remained unbeaten on a breathtaking 125 off just 55 balls. This partnership was the highest-ever opening stand and contributed to the biggest total in BPL history. Shafiul Islam managed to pick up the only wicket for Durbar Rajshahi, while Taskin Ahmed’s economical spell was the sole positive takeaway for them.
Durbar Rajshahi never found their rhythm in this chase. Losing Mohammad Haris in the opening over set the tone, and skipper Anamul Haque's dismissal for a duck dealt an early blow. With four wickets falling inside the Powerplay, things only went downhill from there. Wickets kept tumbling, and the batting lineup struggled to make an impact. The lone bright spot was Ryan Burl’s unbeaten 47, but it was far from enough in an otherwise lackluster performance as they suffered a crushing 149-run defeat.
DHAKA CAPITALS SECURE THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON! After enduring six consecutive losses, they’ve finally broken the streak and opened their account. To top it off, this victory marks the largest in terms of margin of runs (149) in BPL history!
