Keshav Maharaj, the skipper of Durban's Super Giants is up for a chat. He says that it's never really over till it's over at the Kingsmead as the wickets can fall in clusters. Adds that getting stuck in till the end showed character. Mentions that the crowd lifted them and they are grateful for it. Further mentions that they knew about the short boundaries but that's where Noor Ahmed came in with his mystery spin and made it hard for the batters to hit towards the end. Mentions that Kane Williamson and Wian Mulder showed what they signed them for. Bringing in a lot of experience and bringing in important partnerships. Adds that Wian Mulder has grown as a cricketer over the years and kept putting in the performance and helping us to reach targets that they need.
Rilee Rossouw, the captain of the Pretoria Capitals says that they lost track of what they needed to chase. Shares that chasing over 200 on this wicket was always going to be tough but they were right in the mix after the start they got with the bat. Shares that the second inning batting gets tough and they had to come out all guns blazing. Ends by adding that they started well but failed to close it out and will look to bounce back in coming games.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the Player of the Match for his sensational knock. He shares that he is happy with his performance but is disappointed with the result. Adds that they will come back strong in the coming games. Says that the opening stand with Will Jacks was really good and he hopes to carry it on in the season. Ends by stating that he never likes losing but is confident to bounce back.
Time for the post-match presentations...
The Durban's Super Giants leaked plenty of runs in the first half of their bowling innings but Keshav Maharaj-led side kept chipping away with wickets after getting the first breakthrough. Noor Ahmad and Chris Woakes snapped two each while Keshav Maharaj and Naveen-ul-Haq bowled the last two overs and kept their calm to get on the winning side. The home side kept building the pressure with regular wickets and the Capitals threw it away after being in a comfortable position for most of this clash. Earlier today, the Super Giants batted first and posted a mammoth score of 209/4 on the back of an excellent 60 from Kane Williamson while Mulder, Matthew Breetzke, and Parsons made quick runs through the top and the middle overs. Senuran Muthusamy was the pick of the Pretoria Capitals bowlers with 3/21 in his tidy spell. The Capitals will be hurt and shall look to bounce back while the Super Giants will take a lot of confidence from this close win.
Phew! What a thriller we've witnessed in just the second game of the SA 20 - 2025 season. Durban's Super Giants have come out of nowhere and won this contest by 2 runs to start their season with a bang. Chasing 210 for the win, the Pretoria Capitals had a blistering start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Will Jacks (64) adding 154 runs in 12 overs. Gurbaz was dismissed for 89 off 43 and this allowed the Super Giants to sneak back into the game. They picked a couple more wickets in quick time to build the pressure on the Capitals and they succumbed to it. At one stage, the Capitals needed 33 off the last five overs but the Durban's Super Giants made a miraculous comeback and got a win from the jaws of defeat.
