Right then, that's it from the coverage of this game. Although the action in the Women's T20 World Cup continues as India Women are set to take on Australia Women in just a while. The first ball will be at 2 pm GMT. But you can join us early for the build-up. See you then! ADIOS!
Heather Knight, the victorious skipper is in for a chat. She says that the pitch has gotten really better and she is pleased with how the game went for them. Talks about the way Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge batted and made the most of the opportunity which also helped their net run rate in tough hot conditions. Mentions that they have a lot of options to work with and Lauren Bell bowled outstandingly well too. Concludes that they just want to try and build on the momentum and keep winning.
Kathryn Bryce, the captain of Scotland Women is in for a chat. She acknowledged that it had been a difficult tournament for her team. She emphasized the key learning point of sticking to the basics. Bryce mentioned that it’s always challenging to compete against different teams on varying pitches. However, she expressed her gratitude for the way the fans have supported them throughout the tournament.
MAIA BOUCHIER IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her aggressive and unbeaten knock of 62(34). She says it felt really good and to bat with Danni Wyatt-Hodge was special as they share a strong bond and they looked to stick to their strength and hit down the ground and run well which came good for them. Adds that they got to know about the net run rate at around the 8-over mark and it could potentially come into play ahead in the tournament and they wanted to finish it in 10 overs. Talks about keeping the focus on the present and staying calm not worrying a lot about what other teams are doing. Concludes that it was good to keep Scotland to such a small total and the way they played was great.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
For Scotland, it was a tough outing. Their bowlers struggled to find the right lines and lengths, especially the new ball bowlers, who were taken apart by the English openers. This was the first time these two teams met on the cricket field in the shortest format, and Scotland will have plenty to reflect on as they look to learn and improve in the future.
Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge opened for England and dominated from the start. Bouchier took an aggressive approach early on, setting the tone for the chase, while Wyatt played a supportive role, content with playing second fiddle. Both the batters scored their respective half-centuries. Together, the pair made light work of the Scottish bowlers, taking England to a comfortable victory with all 10 wickets in hand.
WOW! England Women record an emphatic win against Scotland Women. They have chased down 110 runs in just 60 deliveries. Scotland Women were very flat with the ball in hand, but they would take plenty of learnings from this outing. With this win, England Women remain unbeaten in Group B of the T20 World Cup and have significantly boosted their net run rate, strengthening their chances of advancing to the next round.
