Unpredictable stuff in BBL and the action keeps on coming. Join us on the 2nd of this month as Melbourne Renegades will take on Adelaide Strikers at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT). Join us earlier for the build up. Till then, cheers and a very Happy New Year!
Marcus Stoinis, the PLAYER OF THE MATCH says it is a nice way to start 2025 and the team is relieved, they came in with great character and energy. Tells partnership wins matches, Dan Lawrence batted brilliantly and it was important for the team. Shares he was disappointed with his performance, he was making starts but needed to push and build on. Mentions they have a chance to make the next round and are looking forward to the next matches.
Brisbane Heat were short of runs but still had enough to fight with. They started well with the ball but once it got soft, they failed to pick any wickets. Apart from Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson, all of them leaked runs. Paul Walter mainly who gave too many. Credit to Melbourne Stars, they read the pitch well and used the conditions appropriately. In the later half of the first innings, the pitch got flat and Max Bryant made the most of it but overall it got tough for Brisbane Heat to defend the total.
Finally, a W for Melbourne Stars and they have opened their account this season. Marcus Stoinis as a captain also gets the first win under his name. A much needed win and their skipper led from the front. Coming in at 14/3, Marcus Stoinis had to watch out for the swing, juicy bounce and he played sensibly along with Lawrence. Both took their time to build the innings but once the ball got old, they started to fire all cylinders. The duo added 100 runs with both hitting fifties and did the job for the team. Marcus Stoinis fell but Dan Lawrence hung in there to do the job.

FOUR! Melbourne Stars are one hit away! A good length ball on middle, Lawrence shows the full face of the bat and punches it aerially over the bowler and into the fence. Such a good looking shot.
