Runs in from over the stumps and pitches the ball on the nagging length on the off stump. Laura Wolvaardt taps the ball from the crease towards mid off.
We are back for the chase! The umpires are out in the middle and so are the players. It will be the pairing of skipper Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits to open the innings for South Africa Women. Renuka Singh Thakur has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...
... The Run Chase ...
Right then, 144 is the target that is needed for South Africa Women to get a win under their belt heading into the main event. India Women have the quality and depth in their spin attack to defend this total but a lot will depend on how the Powerplay goes for both sides. Stick around as the chase is up next.
With how things started, South Africa Women would have wanted to control the first innings a bit better but are well and truly in the game. Ayabonga Khaka was excellent up top in the absence of Marizanne Kapp and Chloe Tryon too bowled a tight spell from the other end. They bowled decently in the middle overs and did manage to pick up a couple of quick wickets but went for a few too many runs in the last few overs. Khaka finished off things on a high, claiming 3 more scalps in the final over to make it a fine five-wicket haul.
A good fightback from the Indian middle order yet again but South Africa Women will be fairly happy with how things have panned out so far. India Women defended 141 in the last game and once again they have a similar sort of a total on board. India Women were put into bat but Shafali Verma departed for a duck and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur didn't hang around for much either. It was the stand between Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues worth 40 runs that provided some stability. However, the duo departed in the space of a few balls, and then came the blitz towards the latter part as Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh as they added on 70 runs and got India to a par score.
