Right then, that will be it from us for this contest. We hope you enjoyed the coverage. The action continues at the Women’s Asia Cup, 2024. India Women will play their next game against Nepal Women on Tuesday, 23rd July, 2024. That game will start at 7 pm IST (1330 GMT). On the other hand, barring some mathematical magic, UAE Women are more or less knocked out of this Asia Cup. They have one more game left, against Pakistan Women, which they will aim to win for pride. That is a day game, scheduled on Tuesday itself, at 2 pm IST (0830 GMT). You can catch action from other matches going on as well like England-West Indies and the different T20 leagues. Take care, and cheers!
Harmanpreet Kaur, the India Women skipper says that it was a great feeling and when she and Jemimah Rodrigues were batting, the focus was on running hard and still scoring at 7-8 runs an over while keeping wickets in hand. Adds that her game plan was to keep ticking along and put away the bad balls and goes on to applaud Richa Ghosh. On the anniversary of her 2017 ODI World Cup semifinal knock against Australia, she says that she is happy to relieve those memories.
RICHA GHOSH HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her brilliant knock. She says that she is very happy with her knock. Adds that batting with Harmanpreet Kaur makes her job easy. Shares that she tries to make the most of the opportunity that comes up. Ends by adding that she enjoys playing through the off side and that the concussion injury is behind her now.
Esha Oza, the United Arab Emirates Women's skipper says that it was a great experience and they got to know how to build an innings and they saw it firsthand and got a good idea of what to work on. Adds that you're never satisfied when playing a great opposition and you need to keep pushing and needed to take more wickets. Mentions that they put up a better score against a better side and they have one more game coming up which they are looking forward to.
Earlier in the game, India Women batted first and posted a commanding score of 201 - THEIR HIGHEST EVER IN T20IS - on the back of fifties from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh while Shafali Verma made a quickfire 37 off 18. For the United Arab Emirates Women, Kavisha Egodage was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets while the rest of the attack had a poor outing. United Arab Emirates Women will be gutted but they showed good fight. They have now lost two in two and have slipped to the bottom of the table in Group A.
India Women were not at their best with the ball but did enough to get them a big win. Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 23 in her spell while the rest of the bowlers took one apiece. Tanuja Kanwar was impressive on her debut as the left-arm spinner went for just 14 in her four overs. India Women will be delighted with their all-round display.
Another clinical performance from the Indian Women sees them make it two wins out of two and almost have a foot in the semifinal of the Women's Asia Cup. Chasing a mammoth score of 202 for the win, the United Arab Emirates Women were never in the chase, being reduced to 36 for 3 in the 8th over itself. Esha Oza and Kavisha Egodage showed some kind of a fight, adding 40 for the fourth wicket but it was all about respect and never in pursuit of the total. Oza made 38 while Egodage made an unbeaten 40 off 32 balls. None of the other batters stood up.
