Right then, that is it from the exciting game between the Manchester Originals Women and the Trent Rockets Women where the home team, the Originals earned themselves the first win of this season. However, the action from The Hundred doesn't stop here as we gear up for the Men's clash between the Originals and the Rockets at the same venue. So just switch tabs and join us for another interesting game in the tournament.
Lauren Filer is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her splendid bowling spell. Says that it was a great team performance and that everyone did their job well. Adds that their score was defendable as the pitch was a bit slower. Concludes by saying that the plan was to stick to the basics and back themselves for a win.
Earlier in the game, Natalie Sciver-Brunt called it right and inserted the Manchester Originals into bat. It was yet another quick start by Laura Wolvaardt but a mix-up cut her stay short. Although the boundaries did not come frequently, Kathyrn Bryce and Beth Mooney kept the scoreboard ticking with ones and twos. After Mooney fell, Bryce took the innings ahead with Eve Jones. Jones turned the heat on during the back end of the innings coupled with a quickfire 5-ball 13 by Sophie Ecclestone helped the Originals get to 137.
Questions will be asked whether the Trent Rockets Women paced the chase correctly in the middle phase. Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Ashleigh Gardner opted to play low-risk cricket and one feels that they left it too late to accelerate. Natalie Sciver-Brunt initiated the acceleration and brought up her first fifty of this Hundred. From 22 needed off 10 balls, the equation was brought down to 13 needed off the last 5 balls. It was at this moment when Ashleigh Gardner took charge with back-to-back fours. With 5 runs needed off 3 balls, it looked like the Rockets would get over the line. It wasn't to be as with 4 runs needed off the last ball, NSB could only manage a brace, resulting in the Rockets falling short.
Wow! A topsy-turvy game with the pendulum swinging one way and then the other! Kathryn Bryce held her nerves during the last set to help Manchester Originals Women register a win by the barest of margins. Ebony Rainford-Brent informs on air that this is the first-ever 1-run win in the history of the Women's Hundred. Thanks to the finish provided by Eve Jones and Sophie Ecclestone, the Rockets had a decent total on the board. With the ball, they struck twice in the Powerplay but at the same time, leaked boundaries. In the middle phase, it was a cagey affair with both sides trading blows.

Kathryn Bryce has done it for the home team by holding her nerves! Full and around off. Natalie Sciver-Brunt sweeps it to deep mid-wicket but straight to the fielder. A few feet to the left or right and it would have been a boundary but it wasn't to be for the Rockets. They end their innings with a couple of runs and they fall short by a run.
Four runs needed off the last ball. Remember, there is no Super Over in the league stage of The Hundred. If the scores are level, the two teams will get one point each.

On a length and outside off. Heather Graham slaps it to long off for a single. 4 needed in the final delivery now. 3 runs to tie the game. Natalie Sciver-Brunt to face that ball.
Heather Graham comes out to bat now. Does she go for the big shot or does she just try to get something on it to bring Natalie Sciver-Brunt on strike?
OUT! IN THE AIR...TAKEN! The crowd erupts in a cheer in support of the home team. Kathryn Bryce bowls it full and on middle. Gardner muscles it hoping to clear long on but she doesn't get the distance needed. Beth Mooney takes a safe catch and Ashleigh Gardner walks with 36(23).

FOUR! POOR BALL! Short and on off. Ashleigh Gardner pulls it wide of deep square leg and gets four more runs to release some pressure. The bowler has had a chat with her skipper on her plans.
Who will bowl the last set? It will be Kathryn Bryce. She has gone for 13 runs from her 10 balls so far. Trent Rockets Women need 13 off the last set.
