That is it from this game then! Another cracker of a contest in the Women's Hundred! The Men's action is to follow now. It is Manchester Originals taking on Welsh Fire. That game begins at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT). Till then, goodbye and take care!
Sophia Dunkley is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her match-winning knock. She says that it got closer than what they thought but she is happy to get over the line. Tells that they were really happy with the way they bowled. Further says that spin was tough to get away. She shares that she tried to overhit sometimes but she told herself to calm down. Adds that she felt a lot better once she got a couple of boundaries away. States that it was a heartbreaking end to their last season, so it was important to start well here as they look to go all the way this time around.
Credit to Manchester Originals Women to fight the way they did. They were at least 20 runs short with the bat but the likes of Kim Garth, Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Filer were excellent with the ball. Fi Morris was also decent but Kathryn Bryce was a little disappointing. Her economy on this kind of wicket was way too high. It was probably her spell which took the game away. Had she bowled decently, things could have well been different. Saying that Manchester Originals Women will also feel they left a few runs out there with the bat. Yes, the Welsh Fire bowlers did bowl well but they were in a position to get to 120 and not getting there, cost them.
What a game of cricket that was! For most parts of the second half, it seemed like Welsh Fire Women would cruise to a win. Their openers were scoring at will and it came down to around run a ball. Tammy Beaumont's wicket though changed that. Hayley Matthews then fell soon and so did Sarah Bryce! The rate required shot up to almost 10. Sophia Dunkley however, took the onus onto herself. She managed to find the fence when needed and a fine half ton by her has helped her side get over the line.

Just short and they come back for two! Sophie Ecclestone darts it in, full and around off, Sophia Dunkley backs away and lofts it down the ground. It goes on the bounce to long off as Eve Jones comes in off the ropes and dives in front. The ball lands short of her and rolls in front of her body, allowing the batters to sneak in the second run.
