Right then, that is it from the action of Day 1. Mumbai are in the driver's seat at the moment but a few early wickets tomorrow can get the Rest of India back into the game. The broadcast schedule hasn't been confirmed yet, and given there are overs lost in the day, it can start a bit early. But tell you what, our team will be ready well ahead of time to give you a preview for the day. Just to make sure you don't miss any action, do join us an hour early. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Following the Tea break, Ajinkya Rahane and Sarfaraz Khan have effectively anchored the innings for Mumbai, remaining unbeaten on 86 and 54 runs, respectively. Due to low light conditions after the delay, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was told not to use the pace bowlers, allowing the Mumbai batsmen to play freely and build their confidence. Currently, Mumbai is in a strong position at 237 for 4, with the pair contributing significantly to a solid partnership of unbeaten 98 runs.
Post the Lunch break, Mumbai scored 112 runs while losing just one wicket of Shreyas Iyer who contributed a solid 57. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was then joined by Sarfaraz Khan. The post Lunch session was a significant improvement for Mumbai after they lost three wickets in the first session, and Yash Dayal took the only wicket in the second session as they headed into the Tea break.
That's it! The bad light has led to early STUMPS on Day 1. So at the start of the day, the rest of India was dominating with the ball and Mumbai were marked by three early wickets taken by Mukesh Kumar, who dismissed Prithvi Shaw, Hardik Tamore, and Ayush Mhatre. They were 37/3 as the experienced heads of Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer stepped up and steadied the ship.
Play halted! Due to the poor light conditions, Ruturaj Gaikwad is unable to use his fast bowlers and is content to keep using the spinners. The umpires bring out the light meter out. The fielding side wants to continue but Sarfaraz Khan and Ajinkya Rahane are walking off. The play is suspended as of now. The play can go on till 5.45 pm IST (12.15 pm GMT) so the umpires decide to wait and see if the light gets better.
