For Deccan Gladiators, The opening bowlers Gleeson and Luke Wood came charging at the opposition, not letting them score freely in the powerplay overs and taking wickets as well. That probably broke the back of the New York Strikers early on as they already have a small lineup of pure batters. Deccan Gladiators continued to bowl well with Ibrar Ahmed and David Wiese and eventually got the two points.
That is really a painful performance from New York Strikers as they looked all over the place in the chase. Chasing such a big total, New York Strikers needed a good start but lost the top three in a flash. Evin Lewis anchored from one side but was not helped by wickets falling at the other end. Apart from Kusal Perera and Lewis, no one crossed the double digit mark and that tells you the story. Eventually, Evin Lewis lost the momentum and despite being unbeaten, he failed to make an impact.
