Right then, that is it from the run-fest at the SCG. Sydney Sixers beat the Perth Scorchers by 14 runs. The BBL action continues as we have an ongoing game between the Adelaide Strikers and the Brisbane Heat. Do switch tabs and enjoy the coverage of that game. Cheers!
Steve Smith is the Player of the Match for his knock of 121 runs. He says that it was an enjoyable experience. He admitted that he struggled early in his innings but eventually found his rhythm later on. He praised Moises for maintaining his composure in the final over, which helped secure the victory for their team. Ends by saying that they are ready for the challenges ahead.
Earlier in the game, the Sydney Sixers scored a mammoth 222 in 20 overs at the SCG, led by Steven Smith's 121 runs off 64 balls and Moises Henriques' quick 46 runs. Despite early wickets, Smith and Henriques added 113 for the third wicket, with Smith hitting 10 fours and 7 sixes. Ben Dwarshuis finished strong with 25 runs off just 7 balls. The crowd was thrilled with Smith's performance.
Sydney Sixers bowled well at the start but they lost momentum towards the end. The game was tight until the last over but Moises Henriques stepped up for his side and kept his nerve to defend 23 in the final over. He just conceded seven runs and took a wicket as well in the last over. All the bowlers were expensive but Sean Abbott picked up a four fer for his side.
Perth Scorchers got off to a good start but lost the momentum as Sean Abbott came into the attack. He picked up two back-to-back wickets, which put the Perth Scorchers in a precautionary position. Cooper Connolly and Sam Fanning steadied the ship for a while but both fell. The wickets then kept on tumbling until Ashton Turner and Matthew Spoors joined hands. They played a thunderous knock but the required rate was way too high, as they ultimately fell short of just 14 runs!
The run fest ends at the SCG as the Sydney Sixers beat the Perth Scorchers by 14 runs! What a humdinger we have witnessed here. Certainly, a day to forget for the bowlers, as over 400 runs were scored in the entire game. Perth Scorchers will be upset as they fell just short after a thunderous knock from Ashton Turner!
