But as you know, you can always join early for all the build-up. Until then, take care, and cheers!
GLENN MAXWELL IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH FOR HIS BLISTERING KNOCK. He says that they are glad to get over the line. Adds that a lot of emotion ran through when they were seven down and he started thinking that their season was done but is happy to get on the winning side. Shares that the ground is extremely heavy and he was clear on his plans and the overs he wanted to target. Ends by adding that he wanted to take it deep so the ball wouldn't move much and he cashed it on it.
Time for the post-match presentation...
Melbourne Stars were disciplined with the ball and had set plans. Mark Steketee led the bowling charts with a five-wicket haul. He bowled the bouncer and used the change of pace to get the key wickets. Joel Paris played his part with a terrific spell of 3/13 off his four overs while Siddle and Webster with one apiece round a top effort from the visiting side. Earlier today, the Stars were struggling with the bat at 75/7 when Glenn Maxwell played a whirlwind knock of 90 off just 52 balls and took his team to 165 runs. The Melbourne Stars move into the top four for the first time this season while the Melbourne Renegades have slumped to the bottom.
A clinical bowling effort from the Melbourne Stars has helped them beat the Melbourne Renegades by 42 runs to make it four wins on the trot. Chasing 166 for the win, the batting innings for the Renegades never got going. The openers and Jacob Bethell went early while Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tim Seifert had decent starts but failed to kick on. Harry Dixon showed some glimpses of brilliance while Fergus O'Neill and Kane Richardson swung their bats to go past the 120 mark. It was an off day and one that they would hope to forget.
