Lord’s Erupts in Boos as Josh Inglis Claims Controversial Grounded Catch

The Lord’s Cricket Ground experienced another chapter of the thrilling rivalries between England and Australia. After a while, both teams are locking horns in a five-match ODI series. As Lord’s hosted the fourth match of the series, the visitors experienced another thriller. Another dramatic made the match more interesting. Australian wicketkeeper Josh Inglis faced boos from the Lord’s crowd after claiming a catch that appeared grounded during the match against Australia.

Why Inglis Booed at the Lord’s?

After three successful encounters in the five-match ODI series, England and Australia met at the Lord’s for the fourth match. After losing the initial two games, England bounced back in the third match and eyed another win in the fourth game. As the cricket world was enjoying the fourth ODI match between these arch-rivals, another dramatic moment added extra flavor to the match.

In the 17th over of England’s innings, Harry Brook edged a ball from Mitchell Starc, sending it towards the wicketkeeper. Josh Inglis dove to his left and appeared to catch the ball cleanly. The on-field umpire quickly raised his finger, signaling Brook’s dismissal. However, the decision was soon sent to the third umpire for review.

Replays revealed that the ball had bounced just before reaching Inglis, leading to the decision being overturned. Brook, visibly relieved, remained at the crease. However, the crowd at Lord’s, having seen the replay on the big screen, expressed their frustration. They responded with loud boos aimed at Inglis, unhappy with what they perceived as an attempt to claim a non-catch.
