Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Offers Rs 11 Crore Prize to India’s T-20 World Cup Winning Team

The celebration of India’s T20 World Cup win is still going on all over the nation. After the World Cup heroes returned to the motherland, the entire nation burst into new festivities. On July 4, they touched down at Delhi Airport, where they met PM Narendra Modi. After that, they joined in the victory parade and attended the special program at the Wankhede Stadium. But that was not the end, on Friday, 5 July, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a cash prize of Rs 11 crore for the Indian cricket team in recognition of their T20 World Cup victory.

On July 5, several members of Team India, including Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and others, met Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde. During the meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan, Shinde announced a generous cash reward of Rs 11 crore for the victorious Indian cricket team, celebrating their recent T20 World Cup win. 

The CM expressed his joy and pride in the team’s achievement, particularly highlighting their victory over Pakistan in the tournament. He commended Suryakumar Yadav for his exceptional catch during the final match against South Africa, underscoring the team’s collective effort and individual contributions to their success.

Devendra Fadnavis’ Request to CM:

During a ceremony honoring four Maharashtra players who contributed to the World Cup victory, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged CM Shinde to explore constructing a cricket stadium in Mumbai capable of accommodating over one lakh spectators. Shinde and Fadnavis discussed the proposal at the event held in the central hall of the state legislative building.

He said, “We have one of the historic stadiums in Mumbai in the form of Wankhede stadium. Ashish ji (BCCI treasurer and BJP MLA Ashish Shelar) is here. Mumbai needs a bigger stadium than Wankhede. Therefore, in near future our chief minister will extend all possible help to MCA and BCCI. Wankhede is a historic stadium and cannot be compared to any other. But it is time to give Mumbai a stadium with a capacity of more than one lakh.”
