“Massive win for us as a team” Rashid Khan Hails Afghanistan’s Historic Victory Over Australia

The eighth match of the Super Eight stage has become iconic. Afghanistan faced Australia at the Arnos Vale Stadium. The spectators witnessed the Afghan Brilliance. As the match was crucial for Afghanistan, they gave their best to register the desired win. They played an excellent team game and defeated the Aussies by 21 runs. After the historic win, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan is delighted and praised their team effort.

Reflecting on this Historical Win:

Afghanistan, eager for redemption after a loss to India, came out strong in a crucial match. Batting first, they posted 148/6 and then excelled in bowling and fielding, dominating Australia thoroughly. Their all-round performance secured a historic 21-run victory, a momentous achievement celebrated by the team and fans alike. Afghanistan’s exceptional effort in every aspect of the game ensured they clinched a memorable win, marking a significant milestone in their cricketing journey.

While talking about this unbelievable win, Rashid Khan said, “Massive win for us as a team and as a nation. Great feeling. It’s something we missed in last two years. Really happy with the win and super proud of the guys. Quite important for us that we went back with the same playing XI. We’re reading the opposition bowling lineup and selecting XI accordingly. 140 was a good total on this wicket. We didn’t finish as well as we should have.”

Praising the Opening Partnership and Team Effort:

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran provided a strong start while batting in the first innings, each scoring half-centuries and forming a partnership of 118 runs. In the second innings, Naveen ul Haq shone with his exceptional bowling, taking three pivotal wickets. Afghanistan’s cohesive team effort was evident throughout, culminating in a historic victory.

While talking about this, he said, “Opening partnership gave us best start. On this wicket, anything 130-plus, we were capable of defending it as long as we kept calm and had the belief. That’s the beauty of this team, having allrounders and having options.”

On Nabi’s Amazing Start and Hailing Gulbadin’s Excellence:

In the second innings, Afghanistan showcased their brilliance with the ball. Every bowler shined with their weapon. After Naveen got the first breakthrough, Mohammad Nabi dismissed David Warner and that was a big wicket. Gulbadin Naib was exceptional with the ball. He took 4 vital wickets while giving away only 20 runs. Skipper Rashid Khan held their effort.

He said, “The way Gulbadin bowled today – the experience he has, it came good today. The way Nabi started – the wicket of Warner – was also pleasing to see. It’s so important for us back home and around the world. I’m sure they’re proud and would’ve enjoyed the game.”
