Mathews Crafty Cutter Dismisses Shakib in Dramatic Showdown, Signals ‘It’s Time To Go’

Fans were excited to see the clash. But it got more exciting because of some unusual things. Fans were enjoying the head-to-head clash between these two teams. In the second innings, a gesture by Angelo Mathews caught attention. 

Unfortunate Mathews:

The Sri Lanka vs. Bangladesh clash got another flavor because of the heating moment between Angelo Mathews and Shakib Al Hasan. That all started from the moment of the ‘Timeout’ moment. As the match was going well. When Sri Lanka was 4 down then Angelo Mathews came. 

After coming to the crease, there was a problem with his helmet. While fixing this issue, the ‘Time Out’ moment was gone and Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan applied to the umpire as per the MCC’s rule he gave out. Mathews was upset but he had to go. As per MCC rules “After the fall of a wicket or the retirement of a batter, the incoming batter must, unless time has been called, be ready to receive the ball, or for the other batter to be ready to receive the next ball within two minutes of the dismissal or retirement is not mey=t, the incoming batter will be out, Timed out.”   

A Revenge-Taking Moment for Mathews:

Angelo Mathews got out in a very unfortunate way. He was disappointed in the Bangladesh skipper. In the second inning, he removes Shakib. The revenge was taken. In the 32nd over, Angelo Mathews was bowling. After frequent wickets, Shakib Al Hasan and Shanto were going well. Bangladesh was recovering well from the pressured situation. Mathews broke that valuable partnership.

In the first delivery of the over, Mathews bowled a cutter delivery and Shakib closed his bat early that ball ended up leading the edge and popped up in the air. Asalanka moved towards extra cover, dived back, and grabbed the ball. Shakib ends his excellent innings with 82 runs in 65 balls. While he was leaving the field, Angelo Mathews pointed at his wrist with a smile on his face. He was saying “It’s time to go”.
