Michael Clarke, the former captain of Australia’s Test team, has taken aim at the Australian media for publishing a front-page story on his personal life. The former Australian batter and his purported new partner were seen riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles.
The news that outraged the cricketer
The Daily Telegraph in Sydney ran an article with the headline, “Pup revs up his love life – Michael Clarke hits the road with new flame,” on the top page.
The 43-year-old was bewildered by his intense interest in his personal life after taking a long break from international cricket. “Did anyone get killed yesterday? “Let’s include a photo of me riding a motorcycle—that’s far more significant,” Clarke remarked during the Big Sports Breakfast segment on Sky Sports Radio.
“When you presented it to me this morning, I (could not) have believed it. Guys, reevaluate your priorities. How does that make the front page, in all seriousness?” He continued.
The former captain backlashes the new outlet
Clarke was informed on the podcast that he is still regarded as a well-known figure, but the former Australian captain did not accept this. It was time, he said, to move on. “Your “captain of Australia” is no longer something you can cling to. I’m not; I retired ten years ago. “Go take a picture of Pat Cummins fishing or gardening,” he continued.
One of the best batsmen and captains Australia has ever produced is Clarke. With Ricky Ponting’s retirement, the former captain has taken charge of the Australian Test team. Additionally, in 2015, he guided the national team to the ODI World Cup, where they triumphed over New Zealand at home.
