Bangladesh looking for a replacement

The visitors had announced a fifteen-member squad for the upcoming series against India and Saifuddin was a part of it. But according to a recent report, he might have to miss the series because of his back pain. The recent scan reports of the Bangladesh seam-bowling all-rounder were not satisfactory and the dilemma because of the same. According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman, the board would discuss the same with the physio of the team and then make a call. But in all likelihood, the team have to look for a substitute for the three-match T20I in India.

Minhajul Abedin, the BCB chairman told Cricbuzz on Sunday, ”I don’t think he will be able to play [against India in the T20 series]. We will talk with Julian [physio] tomorrow to take a final decision, but what I understand is that it won’t be possible for him to take part in the T20 series.”

The injury lasting long

The fast bowler has been suffering from this problem for quite a long time and going through treatemnets. He had to take painkillers during the course of the World Cup held in England months back. Then he was included in the ODI squad for the tour of Sri Lanka but eventually was ruled out of the same due to recurrence of the same injury just before the tour.

Saifuddin was also considered for the recently-concluded T20I tri-series, involving Zimbabwe and Afghanistan but it also ended in the same way. So this multiple recurrences of the injury time to time made the player go under the scanner. Now the scan report suggests that it does need further serious treatment.
