Mohammed Shami Responds to World Cup Ball Change Conspiracy Theory

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has addressed the recent allegations by former Pakistani cricketers, who claimed that different balls were provided to Indian bowlers during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Ex-Pakistan player Hasan Raza suggested that the ICC favored India by giving them specially prepared balls.

Shami’s Strong Rebuttal

In a recent interview on journalist Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Shami offered a robust response to these accusations. He stated his willingness to bring the balls used in the World Cup matches to Pakistan to prove their authenticity.

“I will take the balls used in the World Cup to Pakistan. It is written on those balls that they were used in which matches. I will take all the three balls that I have. I will sit with 10-15 people in a panchayat and say, ‘Brother, tell me which ball do you want to cut?'” Shami declared.

Retirement Plans

Shami also addressed rumors about his potential retirement. The 33-year-old pacer asserted that he has no immediate plans to retire and would only consider stepping away from the game when he no longer enjoys playing.

“Regarding my retirement, many people have raised a question mark. I don’t take anything from anyone’s father. Talking about retirement, the day I will feel bored of cricket, that’ll be tata bye bye. About the formats, when I will be on the field, beat me if you can,” Shami said confidently.

Proving His Worth

Shami emphasized his achievements and expressed frustration at being labeled as underrated despite his impressive record. He highlighted his rapid wicket-taking milestones and consistent performances across formats.

“You see the records and judge yourself. Just see if there is anyone better than me or not, be it red-ball or white-ball, doesn’t matter. You talk about records that yes, these are the records that beat mine. You see in the entire history of Indian cricket, who is the fastest to 100 wickets, who is the fastest to 150 wickets,” he remarked.

Shami also recounted his impactful performance during the 2019 ODI World Cup, where he took 13 wickets in just three matches, proving his capability when given the opportunity.

Road to Recovery

Currently, Shami is focused on his comeback following an injury-induced hiatus. He underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon earlier this year and is gearing up for his return to the cricket field
