The CSK captain took his team to the final of the IPL for the 10th time in his illustrious IPL career. There have been questions about the retirement of MS Dhoni for the last 2-3 years. Dhoni will turn 42 this July. With this being a possible last season for the captain cool, Dhoni was asked by Harsha Bhogle if the people of Chennai would see him at this ground ever again.
Dhoni talks about retirement
Dhoni in his cheeky way did not spill any beans on his retirement as yet.
He said, “I don’t know (back next year?) – I have 8-9 months to decide. Why take that headache now. I’ll always be there for CSK, where it’s playing or something outside.”
The 10th IPL championship final will feature the invincible Chennai Super Kings. Gujarat Titans, the reigning champions, were defeated by them by 15 runs when they were shut out for 157 while chasing a 173-run goal. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the CSK opener, received a major break when he was caught at midwicket in the second over and the ball was ruled a no ball. He took advantage of his lifeline by scoring 60 points off of 44 shots. In the first 10 overs, CSK’s opening pair remained unblemished, but GT eventually fought their way back. Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, and Moeen Ali delivered some lusty smashes that helped CSK reach 172/7.
However, GT never really gained any momentum in response during their pursuit. The largest of them all, Shubman Gill, was kept quiet by the GT bowlers as all of their heavy guns fell without making much of a dent. He ultimately lost for 42 off of 38 balls. When top finisher Rahul Tewatia went down, it appeared as though GT’s race was over, but Rashid Khan came in and hammered 30 off 16 balls to give his team a glimmer of hope. But ultimately, he couldn’t handle it, and CSK secured a place in the final game of the tournament.
