Former Pakistan cricketer Mudassar Nazar has expressed strong criticism of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), labeling the current officials as “confused” and accusing them of making repeated errors in managing the national cricket team. His remarks come in the wake of Pakistan’s humiliating 10-wicket defeat to Bangladesh in the first Test in Rawalpindi, which marked Bangladesh’s first-ever Test victory over Pakistan in 14 attempts.
Nazar particularly pointed out the swift role change of Waqar Younis, the former fast bowling legend. Waqar was recently appointed as an advisor to the PCB chairman but was soon moved to a mentoring role for a domestic team in the Champions Cup. Nazar questioned the PCB’s decision-making process, suggesting that it reflects a broader confusion within the organization.
“The PCB is full of confused people, and they are making mistakes after mistakes, leading to increasing problems in Pakistan cricket. One day they appoint Waqar Younis as an advisor on cricket, and now he is the mentor of a domestic team,” Nazar remarked, as quoted by PTI.

Pakistan’s Test Loss and Selection Criticism
In the first Test against Bangladesh, Pakistan opted to bat first and declared their innings at 448-6, with standout performances from Mohammad Rizwan, who scored an unbeaten 171, and Saud Shakeel, who added 141. However, Bangladesh responded with a commanding 565, led by Mushfiqur Rahim’s 191. Pakistan’s second innings collapse to 146 allowed Bangladesh to secure a historic win.
Nazar also questioned the logic behind Pakistan’s team selection, particularly the decision to field four fast bowlers without including a single frontline spinner. He noted that Rawalpindi’s pitch is known to favor batting after the initial few hours of seam movement, making the absence of a spinner a significant oversight.
Bangladesh capitalized on this advantage, with off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking 4-21 and left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan claiming 3-44 in Pakistan’s second innings.
The second Test of the two-match series is scheduled to take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from August 30 to September 3.
