Mukesh Kumar Opens Up About His Struggles As a Cricketer While Reflecting On His Aim To Sustain Himself In The International Arena

In the ongoing 5-match T20I series between 2023 World Cup champions Australia and defending champions India, the first match was won by India held at Visakhapatnam. The second match is scheduled for tomorrow in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. After a nail biting thriller that was witnessed in the first match, fans are excited to watch both the teams play their second match. In the current series, senior players of both the sides have been rested owing to a hectic World Cup campaign and instead young players have been given a chance to showcase their skills. 

Mukesh Kumar’s International career vows

Right arm seamer Mukesh Kumar first represented India across all formats against the West Indies tour, earlier this year. And now, the right arm seamer is aiming for a mainstay in the ongoing Australia series. With becoming a mainstay, Mukesh is aiming to establish himself in the international arena. The 30-year-old seamer was given a chance to represent the country after a stupendous performance in the IPL. 

Opening on the struggles

On being regular for team India, Mukesh remarked that “I want to regularly play for my country, that will be my first achievement. I want to continue focusing on the processes. I am seeing the results of sticking to them, so I want to keep focusing and moving forward.”

About his struggles as a cricketer, the right arm seamer quoted that he wanted to be a batsman but chose to become a bowler as his family didn’t have enough money to buy a kit. “We did not have that much money for me to purchase a full kit. I used to bat also earlier, but I shifted focus to bowling because of the lack of money”, he quoted.
