Mushfiqur Rahim heartwarming gesture after winning man of the match wins the internet

In a heartwarming gesture, veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has announced that he will donate his Player of the Match prize money to the flood victims in Bangladesh. The announcement came after Bangladesh’s historic 10-wicket win over Pakistan in the first Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Rahim, who played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s victory, scored a brilliant 191 runs in the first innings, helping his team establish a crucial lead of 117 runs. His performance was instrumental in ensuring Bangladesh’s dominance throughout the match, leading to their comprehensive win.

Following the match, Rahim took the opportunity to dedicate his award to those affected by the devastating floods in Bangladesh. The floods have claimed the lives of at least 18 people, and Rahim’s contribution is aimed at providing much-needed relief to the victims. “I want to make an announcement, want to donate my prize money as there’s been a flood back in Bangladesh,” Rahim stated during the post-match presentation.

Rahim also reflected on his innings, describing it as one of the finest of his career. He emphasized the significance of the win, particularly given Bangladesh’s struggles in Test cricket away from home. “This is one of my finest (knocks) so far, because we haven’t done that well overseas. All the players prepared well in Pakistan and back home as well. Before the Test series, there was a two and a half months gap. All the players and management were there, the other white-ball players were playing in the World Cup. I’m thankful to the coaching staff and management. When I meet all these guys, it’s a luxury for him (Shanto) and I try to give my best. Doing well for my country inspires me,” Rahim added.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also praised Rahim’s performance, noting the consistency and dedication Rahim has shown throughout his career. “Mushfiqur for the last 15–17 years has done really well and he is not tiring, he is playing with the same intensity. He played really well in these hot conditions. I’m not only giving credit to him but all the fifteen members of our squad,” Shanto said.
