Nitish Rana, the KKR batter, has expressed his desire about his team for the upcoming IPL season, especially with the BCCI revealing the player retention rules ahead of the mega auction. His statement reflects a clear determination about his future in the league and suggests that he is keen on continuing his journey with KKR. As teams prepare for the auction, Rana’s focus on his aspirations indicates a strategic approach to securing his place in the franchise for the next season.
Nitish Rana Talked About His Retention for IPL 2025:
Over the past few years, Nitish Rana has proven to be a reliable performer in the IPL, amassing 2,636 runs in 107 matches, including 18 fifties. He became part of the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 and stepped up to captain the team in the 2023 season after Shreyas Iyer was sidelined due to injury.
The reigning IPL champions face a challenging decision as they determine which players to retain before the auction. With a cap of six players allowed for retention and Right to Match (RTM) options, Nitish Rana may find himself lower in the hierarchy, given that KKR has numerous match-winners in their lineup vying for a spot.
Before the players’ retention announcement, Nitish Rana expressed his desire to continue with KKR for the upcoming season. However, he noted that the franchise has yet to reach out to him about their retention strategy, leaving his future uncertain as the team navigates its roster decisions ahead of the auction.
He said, “I have been serving KKR for the past seven years. It’s not in my hands if I will be retained; it’s up to KKR management to decide. I haven’t received any calls yet. I have scored runs for KKR every year, and if they consider me an asset, they will retain me. I want to play for KKR.”
Nitish Rana Talked About His Team Ahead of Ranji Trophy:
After relocating from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh last year, he is eager to contribute to his team’s success. He is also prepared to assume captaincy duties if necessary, showcasing his commitment and readiness to lead whenever the team requires his guidance and support in upcoming challenges.
He said, “I haven’t discussed this (on availabilities) with the coach or selectors yet. However, players like Rinku (Singh), Yash Dayal, and Dhruv Jurel won’t be available for initial matches, so we’ll see some new faces replacing those playing for the country. I am ready to take control of the team again. If the association feels I’m capable, I can take on the captaincy.”
