This is going to be second IPL match of Mumbai Indians this season and after losing the first one, Mumbai will be determined to win this one. The England pacer may miss the match following an elbow injury as per the latest reports.
No Archer against CSK
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, former India and Chennai Super Kings cricketer is expected to miss the match against CSK. Badrinath was present at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday and therefore confirmed the injury update. If Archer misses the match, it will be another blow for the franchise.
“From the Mumbai Indians camp, there is some news, Jofra Archer will miss this match with an elbow injury. This is big news because Archer is a very good pacer. He will be a handful at the Wankhede, is what we all thought. Him not playing in a big thing, a big boost to CSK,” Badrinath said.
Replacement for Archer
Jofra was bought by Mumbai Indians for a massive amount ahead of the IPL 2022. Despite knowing of his uncertainty following injury, the franchise decided to invest on him as a future prospect. The idea was to make a deadly bowling combination of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer. However, after Bumrah’s unavailability in this IPL due to injury, Archer’s news is another big blow for the side.
In absence of Jofra Archer, Riley Meredith the Australian pacer may be included in the playing XI against Chennai. Archer, one of the assets of Mumbai Indians failed to make any impact in the first match for Mumbai Indians this season. He conceded 33 runs to Royal Challengers Bangalore without picking a wicket. Mumbai lost the match by eight wickets and would be eager to make a strong comeback in the league on Saturday.
