Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Moeen ali is likely to miss next few matches of IPL following ankle injury. Reportedly, Moeen Ali hurt his ankle during a training session and his franchise is waiting for the scan reports to arrive. He got the injury on Saturday.
Moeen Ali was dropped for the IPL 2022 match against Mumbai Indians that his team Chennai Super Kings won. He was replaced by New Zealand spin-bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner in the match. Two days after that he picked up the injury during a training session. Moeen had last played against Gujarat Titans on April 17 that was eventually won by the Titans by three wickets. He failed to showcase his ability in the matches he played till now and compared to the stellar performance of 2021, this IPL turned out to be a sad one for him. In the five matches he played, Moeen accumulated 87 runs at an average of 17.40, including a 48 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Even with the ball, he remained wicketless as he bowled eight overs to concede 68 runs.
Sadly, for Chennai Super Kings this has been a forgettable season so far under the new captain. With two wins from seven games, they are standing in ninth place just above Mumbai Indians. They also dealt with two more injuries already apart from Moeen’s so far that saw Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne being ruled out.
Meanwhile, today his team is taking on against Punjab Kings and the captain Ravindra Jadeja asked Punjab Kings to bat first. Jadeja said, “We will bowl first. We don’t know if dew will come or not. Hope that dew comes in the second half. We’ll look to keep things simple, we will stick to our plans, don’t want to try too many things. Sometimes you lose the toss and things don’t go well for us. Sometimes you might not bat or bowl well. We are going with the same team.”
