Another failure of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane at Cape Town Test which did not go well with the fans. They took to Twitter to react on the started discussing retirement of these two veterans of Test cricket.
India started Day 3 of the ongoing Test against South Africa on 57/2. In no time, they lost the wicket of Pujara to Macro Jansen, thanks to a breath-taking catch by Keegan Petersen. Pujara was gone after adding mere 9 runs. The next batter to follow was Ajinkya Rahane. India lost the vice-captain in the next over, courtesy an unplayable delivery from Kagiso Rabada. India were with top four batters for 58 runs on the board. Pujara and Rahane did show glimpse of their good batting in last Test match followed by another 40+ score from Pujara in the first innings of the Cape Town Test. But they have been going through lean patches for a long time. On the other hand, the batters like Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas Iyer are warming the bench.
The fans have started raising voice against the selection of Pujara and Rahane and with each poor performance they come up with a new set of memes and ask for replacements for these two at the soonest. ‘PuRane’ has been a trending hashtag recent that is a combination of Pujara and Rahane. The onus at the Cape Town at present is on Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli and both are doing their job well so far. Pant already went past 50 while Kohli is playing the role of an anchor.
The fans have already posted thank you notes for Pujara and Rahane and hoping them to be replaced soon.
