Ollie Pope is confident that the current team, led by Ben Stokes, has the capability to surpass this record. He believes that England’s aggressive approach and high-scoring potential make it possible for them to break this longstanding record and set a new benchmark in Test cricket.
Ollie Pope said, “ Sometimes we might score 280 to 300 in a day but that’s OK and probably because we’re reading situations. There might also be a day where we go and get 500 to 600 at some point in the future as well. And that’s a cool thing to have.”
Pope acknowledged that there may be moments when England’s batters need to “manage the game a bit more,” but emphasized that their aggressive Bazball approach, guided by coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, has become instinctive.
