And it’s over. IPL 2020 is finally over and Mumbai Indians have successfully defended their title. Batting first, Delhi Capitals failed to put a big score on board. However, based on the partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant they could finish with a decent 156 for the loss of seven wickets. They started by losing Marcus Stoinis for a duck followed by two more quick wickets of Ajinkya Rahane (2) and Shikhar Dhawan (15). Then the skipper along with the young keeper-batsman took the onus and added 96 runs together. Both completed their respective half-centuries – Iyer (65*) and Pant (56) and helped Delhi Capitals set a target of 157 for Mumbai Champions.
In reply, the chase looked quite easy for Mumbai Indians. Quinton de Kock was quick to go a valuable 12-ball 20 but Rohit Sharma kept the show on. Sharma scored 68 runs off 51 balls with five fours and four maximums to build the innings for Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav was gone for 19 as Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten with 19-ball 33 runs with three fours and one six.
KL Rahul ended as the winner of Orange Cap for IPL 2020 as he topped the chart with 670 runs in 14 matches. Dhawan completed the tournament with 618 runs in 17 games to be ranked at 2nd place. Shreyas Iyer is the 4th name in the following table followed by Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, and Suryakumar Yadav at the 5th, 6th, and 7th places. The last three positions are reserved for Royal Challengers Bangalore top-order batsmen.
