However, there have been a couple of changes in the Orange Cap list after tonight’s breathtaking encounter. 

Jaiswal hits the fastest fifty of the IPL 

Coming into the match, Jaiswal had already established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the powerplay overs. Jaiswal’s assault on the KKR bowlers continued unabated throughout the innings. He showcased an array of shots, effortlessly finding gaps and boundaries, completing his fifty in just 13 balls, making it the fastest in the history of the game. While Jaiswal fell agonizingly short of a well-deserved century, finishing on a magnificent 98 off just 47 balls, his performance left a lasting impact on the match and his team’s campaign.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s breathtaking performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders not only left the opposition in awe but also propelled him into the race for the Orange Cap in IPL 2023. He has cemented his position in the 2nd spot, with 575 runs in 12 games. However, he is only one run behind the table topper Faf du Plessis who has 576 runs in 11 games. However, his opening partner, Jos Buttler, was unlucky as he was run out for a duck. Despite that, he has continued to be in the 7th place in the Orange Cap race. 

Welcome back Venkatesh Iyer

In a battle against a challenging pitch, Venkatesh Iyer showcased his mettle and resilience during his innings, firmly establishing himself as a formidable contender for the coveted Orange Cap in IPL 2023. Despite a slow start alongside Nitish Rana, Iyer’s perseverance eventually paid off as he found his rhythm and began to dominate the bowlers. 

Early on, the going was tough for Iyer, as the pitch’s unpredictable nature caused the occasional ball to stop on the batters. In the first 30 balls following Gurbaz’s dismissal, Kolkata Knight Riders could only muster 30 runs, with just a solitary boundary to their name. Iyer himself endured a challenging struggle, painstakingly moving to 11 off 20 deliveries. 

However, Iyer’s fortunes took a turn for the better. From that point onward, he found his timing and started to consistently find the boundary. Unfortunately, Iyer’s impressive innings came to an end at the start of the 17th over, having amassed a vital 57 runs off 42 deliveries. Despite this dismissal, his remarkable performance firmly places him in the 9th spot in the race for the Orange Cap with 371 runs in 12 games.
